LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College volleyball team secured its second Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament bid in the last two years as the Diplomats were selected as the #3 seed for the upcoming playoffs.

Franklin & Marshall (28-9) will travel to #2 seed and tournament host on Friday, November 15 to play Westminster College (25-9) at 7:00 p.m. In the other quarterfinal match, Lebanon Valley (28-11) will face Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham (22-8) for a berth in the ECAC Final Four also at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday, the winner of the F&M-Westminster match will face Carnegie Mellon (25-12), while #1 seed Moravian (25-9) will face the winner of the LVC-FDU match. Both matches are slated to begin at 10 a.m.

At 2 p.m., the two semifinal winners will meet for the 2002 ECAC Championship.

For F&M, which lost to Gettysburg College in the Centennial Conference Championship match on November 9 by a 3-2 score, Kristen Kowalski (Sr., York, PA/Central York) leads the team in kills with 436. Middle blocker Rosemary Hartmann (Sr., Warminster, PA/William Tennent) ranks first in service aces (94), solo blocks (64), assisted blocks (25) and total blocks (89) on the team, while setter Jackie Skibbie (Fr., Darby, PA/Merion Mercy) has tallied 1,210 assists.

Franklin & Marshall's first round match with Westminster will mark the first meeting between the two programs. Further, if F&M advances to face Carnegie Mellon, it will mark the Diplomats third meeting with the Tartans as Franklin & Marshall picked up a win in 1994 to improve to 2-0 all-time against CMU.
