LANCASTER, PA -- Franklin & Marshall Athletic Director Dr. Robert Bunnell announced today that head women's volleyball coach Nicole Goscilo and assistant coach Tony Troyer have resigned their positions effective immediately.

Head coach of the Diplomats the last two seasons (2001-02), Goscilo led Franklin & Marshall College to a record of 50-21, 16-4 in Centennial Conference play. Following a 22-11, 7-3 mark in her first season, she coached the Diplomats to a 28-10, 9-1 Centennial Conference record this year as the Diplomats were consistently ranked among the Mid-Atlantic Region's best teams.

In post-season competition, the Diplomats advanced to the Centennial Conference title game this year before falling 3-2 to host Gettysburg College.

Under Goscilo, the Diplomats qualified for the ECAC Tournament in 2001 and 2002. Last season, Grove City College defeated F&M 30-28, 30-27, 30-26 in the opening round. In 2002, Westminster College held off a comeback by the Diplomats to win 31-29, 30-21, 27-30, 24-30, 17-15 in the first round of competition.

A search will begin immediately to find a replacement, according to Dr. Robert Bunnell, Director of Athletics and Recreation.

"We will now initiate our search for the best person to lead Franklin & Marshall volleyball and build upon the tradition of the sport at the College."

Prior to F&M, Goscilo was a coach at Temple University where she assisted head coach Bob Bertucci in guiding the Owls to a two year record of 45-17, 29-6 in Atlantic 10 competition.

In 1999, Temple finished 25-6, 16-2 in A-10 matches to claim the conference title and advance to the first round of the NCAA Division I Tournament.

From August 1999 through July 2001, she assisted Bertucci in the evaluation and recruitment of potential student-athletes and the tracking of current student-athletes regarding eligibility and academic performance.

Goscilo started her collegiate coaching career at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where she assisted in practices, setters' training, game preparation and strategy for the Division I Mountain Hawks as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall of 1998 compiling a 20-14 record, 4-2 in Patriot League matches.

American Volleyball Coaches Association CAP I certified, she served as head coach of the Outsiders Volleyball Club, a Junior Olympic volleyball program in Roxborough, Pennsylvania, from November 2000 through July 2001.

A 1998 graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a bachelor or arts degree in Business Administration, Goscilo completed a master's degree in sports administration from Temple in May 2001.

A three-year player for the Mules, Goscilo was a reserve setter for the 1994 and 1995 Muhlenberg women's volleyball teams which finished 22-7 and 20-8, respectively, to set the program's record for most consecutive 20-win seasons.

Troyer, who completed his 10th season on the F&M staff this year, graduated from JP McCaskey High School were he was a two-year captain of the men's volleyball team. He earned team Most Valuable Player honors his senior season and led McCaskey in blocks as a middle blocker and outside hitter.

He previously served as an assistant coach for boys' volleyball at McCaskey and continues to compete for several local amateur teams.
