Four Diplomats Make 2002 All-Centennial Conference Volleyball Team

LANCASTER, PA -- Franklin & Marshall College, which advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships this weekend at Carnegie Mellon College, placed four players on the 2002 All-Centennial Conference volleyball team.
Middle blocker Rose Hartmann (Sr., Warminster, PA/ William
Tennent) was named to the Centennial Conference first team.
The Most Valuable Player of the F&M Invitational and a member
of the 2002 CC Academic Honor Roll, she led the team in service
aces (96) and total blocks (95), while finishing third on
the team in kills with (385).
Heidi Goedicke (Sr., Elderton, PA/ Spring Church) and Jackie
Skibie (Fr., Darby, PA/ Merion Mercy) were named to the second
team. Goedicke broke the all-time career digs record at F&M
with 1,661 erasing the previous record of 1,643 held by Melynne
Stufft '00 . Further, she finished second on the team in digs
(464) and kills (441) and was named to the All-Tournament
teams at the Scranton, Colorado College and Messiah Invitational.
Skibbie led the Conference in assists with 1,268 and assists
per game (11.42).
Only one of two freshmen named to the All-Conference team, joining first team outside hitter Julie Lauro of Muhlenberg, Skibbie was consistently ranked in the top 30 in the nation in assists per game during the season. Outside hitter Kristen Kowalski (Sr., York, PA/ Central York) was named to the honorable mention team. Kowalski, who led the Diplomats in kills (452) and kills per game (3.50), was named CC player of the week on October 1. Kowalksi and Goedicke both reached the 1,000-kill plateau this season. Joining Hartmann on the first team was setter and conference player of the year Lauren Boyd (Gettysburg), opposite side hitter Nicole Barr (Gettysburg), outside hitter Jen Constantino (Haverford), outside hitter Kate Wall (McDaniel) and outside hitter Julie Lauro (Muhlenberg). Overall, F&M concluded the season with a 28-10 record while placing third at the F&M Scramble and the Messiah and Colorado College Tournaments, and first at the F&M and Scranton Invitational.
