LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College libero Meghan Godorov (So., Orefield, PA/Parkland) and Swarthmore outside hitter Emma Benn have been named the November 4 Centennial Conference Volleyball Co-Players of the Week. In a 1-2 week for the Diplomats, Godorov recorded 90 digs (7.50 per game) in three matches as the Diplomats defeated Catholic University (3-0 W), but fell to Gettysburg (3-1 L) and Messiah (3-2 L). In the victory over Catholic at the Messiah Invitational, she recorded 26 digs as the Diplomats avenged a season opening loss to the Cardinals at their own F&M Invitational. Versus Messiah, she added 40 digs to raise her single season total to 639, shattering the previous Centennial Conference single season digs record of 586 held by Franklin & Marshall's Heidi Goedicke '03 from the 2000 season. In the latest NCAA Division III statistics, Godorov ranks fifth in the nation with an average of 6.66 digs in 96 games. As a team, the Diplomats rank 11th in the nation with 23.47 digs per game (2,300 in 98 games) as the Diplomats are the only CC school ranked in the latest statistics. In the Centennial Conference, four Diplomats rank among the conference leaders in statistics led by middle blocker Elizabeth Earll (Jr., New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock) who ranks seventh in kills per game (3.28), third in hitting percentage (.327) and eighth in service aces (.56 per game). In other rankings, outside hitter Maureen Lafferty (Sr., Collegeville, PA/Villa Maria) rates ninth in kills (2.98 per game), third in service aces (.63 per game) and fifth in digs (4.49 per game), setter Jen Grue (Sr., Canton, PA/Canton) ranks second in assists (10.39 per game) and Godorov ranks first in digs. For Benn, the senior posted her 10th double-double of the year with a season best 20 kills and 20 digs to lead the Garnet to a 3-2 victory over Haverford, snapping a 14-match losing streak to the Fords dating back to the 1995 season. Franklin & Marshall (15-12, 7-3 Centennial Conference) will return to action on Saturday November 8th when they travel to Gettysburg College to face Johns Hopkins University in the opening round of the Centennial Conference playoffs. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. with the championship game to follow 45 minutes after the completion of the last semifinal match.
