Skibbie & Haas Lead Diplomats to 2004 F&M Volleyball Tournament Title

LANCASTER, PA - Setter Jackie Skibbie (Jr., Darby, PA/Merion Mercy) recorded 101 assists and 45 digs, while middle blocker Libby Haas (So., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern) tallied 39 kills to earn All-Tournament honors as the Franklin & Marshall College women's volleyball team won the 2004 F&M Tournament in the Mayser Center. Libero Meghan Godorov (Jr., Orefield, PA/Parkland) finished with 73 digs and middle hitter Susan Taylor (Fr., The Woodlands, TX/John Cooper) added 36 kills, while Nicole Kushman (So., Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks) and Kayleen Bailey (Jr., Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) added nine service aces apiece in the tournament as the Diplomats improved to 4-0 on the season. Versus Ursinus College in the tournament's opening match, Haas finished with 13 kills on 27 swings, while Taylor added 12 kills on 21 attempts and Skibbie notched 28 assists as the Diplomats rolled to a 3-0 victory (30-6, 30-21, 30-15). The team continued its domination in the second match defeating Dickinson College 3-1 (30-22, 20-30, 30-18, 30-20) behind 13 kills from Haas and Taylor. Skibbie added 38 assists and Bailey chipped in 15 digs and four service aces to aid in the effort. Franklin & Marshall captured the tournament title versus SUNY-Brockport as the Diplomats came back to win 3-2 (30-27, 12-30, 28-30, 30-27, 15-13) behind 35 assists from Skibbie and 13 kills from Haas. Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on September 14 at Swarthmore College in the Diplomats' 2004 Centennial Conference season-opener.
