LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College Department of Athletics & Recreation has announced the program’s 2005 volleyball schedule. The Diplomats will open the season on September 3 as the team will host the annual Franklin & Marshall Scramble Tournament. F&M remain at home on September 6 versus cross-county rival Elizabethtown College in the annual “Harrisburg Spike” match as both colleges are located on Lancaster County’s Harrisburg Pike. Franklin & Marshall will open the Centennial Conference season on September 14 at home versus Washington College before hitting the road to Lebanon Valley College on September 16-17 for the Flying Dutchmen’s tournament. The team will continue the season at home on September 20 and 22 versus Swarthmore College and Haverford College, respectively before traveling to Ursinus College for a match on September 27. In October, F&M will trek to Lexington, Virginia to square off with host Washington & Lee University and Bridgewater College on the 1st before returning to Lancaster on the 4th for a match versus perennial Centennial Conference rival Gettysburg College. Following an away match at Johns Hopkins University on October 8 and a home match on October 11 versus McDaniel College, the Diplomats will wrap up the regular season with a string of away matches as Franklin & Marshall will travel to Bryn Mawr College (October 15), Dickinson College (October 18), the Juniata College Tournament (October 21-22), Muhlenberg College (October 25) and the St. Mary’s (MD) Tournament (October 25).
