by Sports Information
11/1/05

LANCASTER, PA – Franklin & Marshall College outside hitter Margot Phelan (Fr., Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) earned first team honors, setter Jackie Skibbie (Sr., Darby PA/Merion Mercy) and middle hitter Susan Taylor (So., The Woodlands, TX/John Cooper) received second team honors and libero Meghan Godorov (Sr., Orefield, PA/Parkland) earned honorable mention accolades on the 2005 All-Centennial Conference Volleyball Team as voted on by the conference's coaches.

The first player to earn All-Conference honors as a freshman since 2002, Phelan is the first F&M freshman player to earn All-CC first team honors and is just the 14th player in Conference history to be named All-Conference as a freshman. Further, she is the third F&M freshman player to earn All-CC honors joining Skibbie and outside hitter Jen Power ’97 who earned second team honors in 2002 and 1994, respectively, and the fifth CC freshman player named to the first team joining Gettysburg setter Jen Krug (1994) and hitter Catherine Schott (1996), Haverford hitter Jen Constantino (2000) and Muhlenberg hitter Jen Lauro (2002).

In her first season as a Diplomat, Phelan has recorded 384 kills on 967 attempts with a .270 hitting percentage, 18 assists, 15 service aces, 211 digs and 21 blocks (10 solo, 11 assist) in 89 games.

Ranked 12th in the nation in kills per game in the October 17 NCAA Division III statistics, she was named to the September 13 Centennial Conference Honor Roll and earned All-Tournament honors at the St. Mary’s Invitational on October 28-29.

Historically, she is the 17th F&M player named to the All-Centennial Conference first team as the Diplomats rank second in first-team selections since 1993 behind Gettysburg (24). Johns Hopkins is third (12), followed by Muhlenberg (10), Haverford (seven), McDaniel (seven), Bryn Mawr (one), Dickinson (one) and Washington (one).

Skibbie repeated as a second team All-CC selection this year as she previously earned the honor in 2002 and 2004.

A member of the September 20, October 11 and 18 Centennial Conference Honor Rolls, Skibbie has recorded 106 kills on 358 attempts (.168 hitting percentage), 959 assists, 27 service aces, 250 digs and 22 blocks (12 solo, 10 assist) in 89 games this year to raise her career totals to 302 kills, 3,339 assists, 114 service aces, 1,015 digs and 54 blocks (23 solo, 31 assist) in 317 games as she is third in assists in F&M history.

Further, she ranks 10th in the history of the Centennial Conference in assists, 38 short of surpassing Johns Hopkins’ Michelle Dumler ’00 (3,376) for ninth place.

At middle hitter, Taylor earned her first All-Conference nod as she has recorded 341 kills on 817 attempts (.286 hitting percentage) with eight assists, 16 service aces, 46 digs and 80 blocks (34 solo, 46 assist) to raise her career numbers to 632 kills, 15 assists, 33 service aces, 105 digs and 171 blocks (78 solo, 93 assist) in 204 games.

The first libero ever named to the All-Centennial Conference team since the positions inception prior to the 2002 season, Godorov received her third consecutive All-Centennial Conference selection as she earned All-CC second team honors in 2004 and 2003.

The Centennial Conference and Franklin & Marshall career leader in digs with 2,089, 385 more than CC runner-up Megan Wargo of Gettysburg (1,704), Godorov has tallied 42 assists, 35 service aces and 460 digs in 91 games to raise her career totals to 95 assists and 78 service aces in 423 games.

Franklin & Marshall (19-8, 8-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on November 2 at home versus Swarthmore College in the first round of the Centennial Conference playoffs. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Mayser Center.
