Franklin & Marshall Moves to Fourth in November 1 NCAA Division III Volleyball Mid-Atlantic Region

LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College women’s volleyball team moved up one spot to #4 in the November 1 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Poll for games through October 31. Ranked fifth in the October 19 and 26 polls, it marks the highest ranking for Franklin & Marshall (14-4, 7-2 Centennial Conference) in the NCAA Region Poll since the 2000 team finished the year second in the Mid-Atlantic Region and 20th in the nation. Overall, F&M is 17-5 in the Mid-Atlantic Region this year as the team has defeated Dickinson (3-0 W, 3-0 W), Elizabethtown (3-1 W), Washington (3-0 W), Neumann (3-0 W), Penn State-Altoona (3-0 W), Haverford (3-0 W), Swarthmore (3-0 W, 3-2 W), Ursinus (3-1 W), Gettysburg (3-2 W), McDaniel (3-0 W), Bryn Mawr (3-0 W), St. Mary’s (3-1 W), FDU-Florham (3-0 W), Susquehanna (3-0 W) and Muhlenberg (3-1 W), while falling to Eastern (3-0 L, 3-0 L), Juniata (3-0 L), Haverford (3-2 L) and Johns Hopkins (3-1 L). Juniata (29-1, 16-0 region) is ranked first in the poll, while Eastern (28-5, 19-2 region), Johns Hopkins (23-5, 22-3 region), F&M, Gettysburg (18-12, 14-4 region), Lebanon Valley (25-5, 18-4 region), Salisbury (25-9, 21-7 region) and Gallaudet (19-11, 16-5 region) round out the top eight teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Franklin & Marshall (20-8, 8-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on November 5 at #1 seed Johns Hopkins University (23-5, 9-1 CC) in the semifinals of the 2005 Centennial Conference Playoffs at 2:30 p.m. Prior to the F&M-JHU match, #2 seed Gettysburg College (18-12, 8-2 CC) will take on #3 Haverford College (18-8, 8-2 CC) at noon. The winners of the semifinal matches will meet on November 6 at Hopkins in the championship match set for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
