Howanksi Named to December 3 Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Honor Roll

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College guard Lauren Howanski (Sr., Gap, PA/Pequea Valley) has been named to the Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Honor Roll for the period of November 26th through December 2nd. In three games versus Messiah, Gwynedd Mercy and Muhlenberg, she tallied 45 points to move within 26 of joining teammate Amy Kreitz (Sr., Allentown, PA/Salisbury) as the only players to reach the 1,000-point career milestone. Against 2001 National Championship runner-up Messiah, she scored 15 points in a 73-loss in the Mayser Center. Howanski shot four of 17 from the field, one of six from beyond the three-point arc and six of six at the free-throw line to lead her team in scoring. In the first half, she knocked down four-of-12 shots and six foul shots for 15 points with four assists to lead the Diplomats. Against Muhlenberg, she chipped in 13 points in a 77-55 loss, and shot six-of-seven from the field, including two-of-two from three-point range, to tally 17 for the game in a 75-69 defeat by Gwynedd Mercy. Through six games, Howanski is ranked 14th in the Centennial Conference with 12.7 points per game, the third best average on the Diplomats behind center Amy Abernathy (So., Far Hills, NJ/American School Paris) and Kreitz who have tallied 15.7 and 15.5, the sixth and seventh best averages in the Conference, respectively. In addition, she is third in three-point field goal percentage with a 10-of-23 performance for a 43.5 percent average, and fifth in free-throw percentage at 81.8 (18-22). In assists, Howanski is third with 4.33 per game (26 in 8 games), while she is ranked fifth in three-point field goals made with 10, an average of 1.67 per contest. Franklin & Marshall (3-3, 1-1 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on Tuesday, November 4 at Western Maryland College, before visiting Neumann College at 2:00 p.m. on December 8 to close out their fall semester schedule.
