Kreitz Named January 14th Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College guard Amy Kreitz (Sr., Allentown, PA/Salisbury) tallied 63 points for an average of 21.0 points per game in a 3-0 week for the Diplomats to earn Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the period of January 7 through 14. She was the top scorer in two games, posting 25 points at Ursinus in a 68-53 rout and 22 versus Elizabethtown as the Diplomats knocked off their local rival 81-60 in the Mayser Center. Versus Gettysburg on Saturday, she connected for 16 points as the Diplomats moved one game ahead of the Bullets for third place in the Centennial Conference Western Division courtesy a 76-66 victory. The 5'6" guard leads the team in minutes (31.2) and points (17.7) per game, and has notched 41 steals to date Through 87 collegiate games, Kreitz has started 86 contests while totaling 1,369 points to rank fifth all-time in scoring, 133 points behind fourth place Laurie Baker '78 (1,502). Further, she ranks third in steals (236), seventh in assists (196), second in three-point percentage (35.11%), third in three-point field goals (92) and 15th in rebounding (402) to rank among the elite athletes in Franklin & Marshall College history. A two-time first-team All-CC point guard, Kreitz became only the fourth Diplomat to register a conference "MVP" season joining Anne Krumrine (1989), Cathy Belser (1990) and Carrie Bowen (1992, 1993) who earned Middle Atlantic Conference Southwest Player of the Year honors during their careers. A member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Region First Team and WBCA/Kodak All-Region District 4 team, Kreitz also became the tenth women's player in school history to record 1,000 points and was named a first-team All-CC team member for the second consecutive year. Her selection to the All Centennial Conference First Team marked her second straight year on the top squad and the third season the Conference coaches have honored the Allentown native as she received an Honorable Mention nod as a freshman in 1999. Franklin & Marshall (9-4, 3-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on Thursday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. versus the Moravian College Greyhounds. Admission is free.
