Abernathy Named December 16 Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA - Steve Ulrich, Executive Secretary of the Centennial Conference, announced that Franklin & Marshall College center Amy Abernathy (Jr., Far Hills, NJ/ American School-Paris) has been named Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of December 9-15.

Abernathy averaged 24 points and 13 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Diplomats knocked off Albright (60-49) and McDaniel (77-70) on Friday and Sunday. She tallied 22 points and nine boards against Albright, and returned to double-digits with 26 points and 17 boards to defeat the Terror.

On the year, Abernathy has recorded three double-doubles as she leads the Diplomats in scoring (15.3 ppg), rebounds (10.1 rpg) and blocks (1.43 bpg). Further, she is second on the team in steals with 14.

In the latest Centennial Conference statistics, she ranks fourth in scoring, second in rebounding, second in field goal percentage (second, .589), steals (12th, 2.00), blocked shots (second), offensive rebounds (first, 4.29) and defensive rebounds (fourth, 5.86).

As a team, the Diplomats rank among the CC leaders in scoring offense (70.4, second), scoring defense (56.4, second), scoring margin (+14.0, first), field goal percentage (.426, third), field goal percentage defense (.341, first), three-point field goal percentage (.330, second), three-point field goal percentage defense (.230, first), three-point field goals made (4.86, fourth), rebounding offense (44.3, first), rebounding defense (37.9, fourth), rebounding margin (+6.4, second), blocked shots (3.14, first), assists (14.29, third), steals (11.29, fourth), offensive rebounds (16.14, second) and defensive rebounds (28.14, second).

Franklin & Marshall College (5-2, 2-1 Centennial Conference) will return to action on January 2-7 as the Diplomats travel to the Bahamas Goombay Shootout. F&M will return to the continental United States on January 8 at Elizabethtown College. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
