Tierney Named December 15 Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College guard Courtney Tierney (Sr., Princeton, NJ/The Hun School) has been named the December 15 Centennial Conference Player of the Week for her performance in a 3-0 week for the Diplomats. Last week, she averaged 14.7 points per game with five rebounds, three steals and 14 assists for Franklin & Marshall as the team knocked off Gettysburg (74-69 W), Haverford (83-54 W) and Bryn Mawr (82-40 W) to improve to 3-4 on the year, 3-1 in Centennial Conference play. Against Gettysburg, she scored 21 points on six-for-16 shooting from the field, including three-for-eight from the three-point arc, and connected on six-of-six at the charity stripe while adding eight assists. Versus Haverford, she scored 15 points and dished out a game high four assists to lead the Franklin & Marshall to a 20-point victory. Overall, she hit five-of-12 from the floor and five-for-five at the free-throw line to help the Diplomats capture their second win of the season. She concluded the week with eight points and two assists versus Bryn Mawr as Franklin & Marshall built a 50-15 lead by intermission and outscored the Owls 32-25 down the stretch for the 42-point victory. Currently in her second year at Franklin & Marshall after transferring from Division I Farleigh Dickinson University-Metropolitan, Tierney ranks among the Conference leaders in free-throw percentage (first, .938), three-point field goals (fifth, 1.86 tpg) scoring (sixth, 14.6 ppg), assists (sixth, 3.43 apg) and assist/turnover ratio (15th, 0.80). As a team, Franklin & Marshall ranks among the Conference leaders in free throw percentage (second, .712), field goal percentage (second, .403), assist/turnover ratio (second, 0.85), assists (second, 17.43 apg), three point field goal percentage (second, .360), scoring offense (third, 67.6 ppg), steals (third, 11.43 spg), three point field goals made (third, 5.86 tpg), turnover margin (third, +1.86), blocked shots (third, 3.29 bpg), field goal percentage defense (fourth, .373), rebounding defense (fourth, 41.0 rpg), scoring defense (fifth, 62.7 ppg), scoring margin (fifth, +4.9), three point field goal percentage defense (fifth, .315) and offensive rebounds (fifth, 15.43 rpg). Franklin & Marshall College will return to action in the Mayser Center on January 3 versus nationally ranked Bowdoin College. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
