WESTMINSTER, MD - Amy Abernathy (Jr., Far Hills, NJ/ American School-Paris) shot 10-of-15 from the floor and four-of-seven at the free-throw line for 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds, but the trio of Kelly Cramp, Erin White and Jen Piccolomini combined for 35 points as the McDaniel College Green Terror survived for a 66-60 overtime win against Franklin & Marshall College. The Diplomats came out the locker room fired up in the first half as guard Dana Johns (Fr., York, PA/Eastern York) drained a three-pointer eight seconds into the game for a quick 3-0 lead as F&M built an 11-4 lead four minutes into the game. McDaniel fought back, clawing their way to within two, but the Green Terror failed to tie the game until the 1:26 mark as Jacqueline Pundt made the first-of-two free-throw attempts for a 27-all tie. With the clock ticking down, Cramp arched in a jumper with 51 seconds left until halftime for the go-ahead basket as McDaniel carried a 29-27 lead into the locker room. In the second half, the Terror led by seven points with 8:54 left in regulation, but the persistent Diplomats chipped away at the lead. A three-pointer by Courtney Tierney (Jr., Princeton, NJ/Hun School) with 1:40 remaining in the second half drew the teams even at 55-55 to close out scoring in regulation. Down by three-points in overtime, McDaniel’s Brooke Weimer went four-for-four at the foul line to give her team the edge, and Cramp dropped in the game-winning basket with 1:12 left on the clock as McDaniel improves to 14-4, 6-3 in Centennial Conference play, while Franklin & Marshall falls to 10-8, 4-5 in Conference. For McDaniel, Cramp led the Green Terror with 14 points, while Pundt pulled down a team high six boards. The key to the game was free throw shooting as F&M converted eight-of-19 at the line, while McDaniel made 19-of-26, including six-of-nine by White and four-of-four by Brooke Weimer. For the Diplomats, Abernathy is quickly closing in on 1,000 career points as the junior center now has 966 points and 753 rebounds for her three-year career.
