Abernathy & Tierney Power F&M Past Dickinson 79-66 in Women's Basketball

LANCASTER, PA - Guard Courtney Tierney (Jr., Princeton, NJ/The Hun School) scored a game high 22 points and center Amy Abernathy (Jr., Far Hills, NJ/American School-Paris) recorded her fifteenth double-double of the year scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Diplomats over Dickinson College 79-66 in women's basketball. The Red Devils led most of the first half as they shot 50 percent from the field on 16-of-32 from the floor. Patrice Johnson and Jennifer Reitmeyer scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, to lead Dickinson into the half with a 36-24 advantage. F&M came to life out of the locker room as they shot a blistering 61.1 percent from the field on 22-36 from the field and sixty percent from the three point line on three-of-five shooting. Senior Kelly Witkowski (Sr., Colts Neck, NJ/Marlboro) led the charge as she scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out three assists and picked off three passes. Tierney scored 15 of her game high 22 points in the half on six-of-eight shooting from the field and three-of-three shooting from behind the arc. Dickinson had three players reach double figures with Jennifer Reitmeyer leading the way with 20 points while Patrice Johnson scored 16 and Megan Shelley dropped in 14 along with eight assists. Dana Johns (Fr., York, PA/Eastern York) came off the bench and back from an ankle injury to score seven points, dish out six assists and create four steals while Witkowski ended the night with eight points, 10 rebounds, three assists and four steals. With the win, the Diplomats improve to 13-9 overall and 7-6 in Centennial Conference play while Dickinson falls to 8-16 overall, 4-9 in Conference play. Franklin & Marshall College will return to action on February 22 when they play host to Western Division leader Johns Hopkins University. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
