Abernathy Named to January 13 Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Honor Roll

LANCASTER, PA - Steve Ulrich, Executive Secretary of the Centennial Conference, announced that Franklin & Marshall College center Amy Abernathy (Jr., Far Hills, NJ/ American School-Paris) has been named to the women's basketball honor roll for the week of January 6th-12th. In a 2-1 week for the Diplomats, Abernathy averaged 14 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots to power F&M to an 8-3 season record. She scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in a 57-53 victory against 25th nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon en route to being named the MVP of the Bahamas Goombay Classic. She ranks among the Centennial Conference's best in scoring (14.9, 5th), rebounding (10.4, 2nd), field goal percentage (.571, 2nd), blocked shots (2.09, 1st), offensive rebounds (3.64, 2nd), defensive rebounds (6.73, 2nd) and double-doubles (6, 1st). As a team the Diplomats rank among the CC's best in field goal percentage defense (.358, 1st), three-point field goal percentage defense (.221, 1st), rebounding offense (44.5, 1st), rebounding margin (+5.0, 2nd), block shots (4.00, 1st) and defensive rebounds (29.27, 1st). For her career, Abernathy now has 845 points, 678 rebounds, 130 blocked shots, 99 steals and 70 assists. In CC history, she ranks sixth in blocked shots, five shy of surpassing McDaniel's Kathi Snyder (1996-99) for fifth in Conference history. Franklin & Marshall will return to action on Thursday, January 16th when they play host to Ursinus College. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
