Abernathy Ranks Among National Leaders in February 17 NCAA Women's Basketball Statistics

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College center Amy Abernathy (Jr., Far Hills, NJ/American School Paris) ranks among the nation's leaders in three categories in the latest NCAA statistics for games through February 16. Abernathy, who was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week on Monday for averaging 23.5 points and 14.5 rebounds as the Diplomats defeated Gettysburg (77-73) and Haverford (80-66) last week, is 25th in rebounds per game (10.8), 17th in field goal percentage (56.0) and 29th in blocked shots per game (2.2). Overall, she leads F&M in field goal percentage (.553), points (16.8 ppg), rebounds (10.8 rpg), offensive rebounds (104), defensive rebounds (133), blocks (51) and minutes (27.8 per game), as the Diplomats are 13-9, 7-6 in the Centennial Conference. Abernathy now has 1,050 points and 791 rebounds in her collegiate career to rank 10th in scoring and sixth in rebounding at the College. She is eight boards shy of surpassing Monica Stockman '89 for fifth in rebounding at the College. Further, she is on pace to become the second player in men's and/or women's basketball history at Franklin & Marshall College to achieve a double-grand joining Anne Krumrine '90 (1,811 points & 1,180 rebounds). Franklin & Marshall will conclude the regular season on February 22 when they host Centennial Conference Western Division leader Johns Hopkins University. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
