LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College Director of Athletics & Recreation Dr. Robert Bunnell has announced the appointment of Kirsten Richter as an assistant women's basketball coach for the 2003-04 season. A 2003 graduate of the College, Richter transferred to Franklin & Marshall from Wittenberg University during the second semester of the 2000-01 academic year. A member of the Wittenberg University Honors Program and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, she appeared in 15 games as a freshman averaging 1.2 points per game in 66 minutes for a team which finished 14-11, 10-6 North Coast Athletic Conference. In two games for Franklin & Marshall during the 2001 season, she scored two points and provided nine minutes off the bench as the Diplomats appeared in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship playoffs. As a junior, she appeared in 15 games averaging 1.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in 151 minutes as the Diplomats advanced to the ECAC Championship game, before averaging 7.7 points and 3.2 rebounds as a senior. Overall, she concluded her career at Franklin & Marshall with 211 points and 98 rebounds in 39 games, an average of 5.4 points and 2.5 boards per contest. A native of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Richter was the recipient of a Wyomissing Area Education Foundation Sports and Wellness Scholarship following her graduation from Wyomissing High School. At Wyomissing, she was twice named team MVP and was twice honored with All-Division status for basketball.
