Abernathy Named January 11 Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College center Amy Abernathy (Sr., Far Hills, NJ/American School - Paris) has been named the January 11th Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Last week, she averaged 19.5 points, 18.5 rebounds, 8.0 blocked shots and 3.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Diplomats. In a 73-39 victory over Ursinus on January 10, Abernathy scored 19 points, brought down 18 rebounds, blocked eight shots and recorded four steals to cap an outstanding week. On January 7 at McDaniel, she scored 20 points, grabbed 19 boards, blocked eight shots and recorded three steals in a 68-56 loss.

A 2004 D3hoops.com Preseason All-America selection, she now has 1,231 points, 956 rebounds and 197 blocks as she is on pace to join Anne Krumrine '90 and Tina Breithaupt '94 as the only players in program history to finish with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their careers.

In the history of the program, she is third in blocked shots, ninth in scoring and third in rebounding as she could challenge Krumrine's first place mark in rebounding (1,180).

Further, she is now 20 points shy of surpassing Michele Fisher '89 (1,250) for eighth in scoring and 20 blocks short of moving past Breithaupt (216) for second in blocked shots in program history.

In the latest Centennial Conference statistics, Abernathy ranks first in rebounding (15.2 rpg), blocked shots (3.90 bpg), offensive rebounds (6.20 rpg) and defensive rebounds (9.00 rpg), second in scoring (15.9 ppg) and sixth in field goal percentage (.503) as she has 212 points, 152 rebounds (62 offensive, 90 defensive) and 39 blocked shots through the Diplomats' first 10 games.

As a team, Franklin & Marshall ranks among the Conference leaders in scoring offense (sixth, 65.2 ppg), scoring defense (fifth, 61.1 ppg), scoring margin (fifth, +4.1), free throw percentage (third, .684), field goal percentage (fourth, .405), field goal percentage defense (fifth, .373), three-point field goal percentage (second, .331), three point field goal percentage defense (fifth, .296), rebounding offense (eighth, 39.5 rpg), rebounding defense (fifth, 40.3 rpg), rebounding margin (eighth, -0.8 rpg), blocked shots (second, 4.20 bpg), assists (third, 15.80 apg), steals (third, 11.0 spg), turnover margin (fifth, +1.40), assist/turnover ratio (third, 0.76), offensive rebounds (sixth, 14.70 rpg), defensive rebounds (10th, 24.80 rpg) and three point field goals (third, 5.20)
