Abernathy Named to January 25 D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College center Amy Abernathy (Sr., Far Hills, NJ/American School - Paris) has been named to the D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week for the period of January 18-24.

The January 27 Centennial Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week, the 6'-0" center recorded 36 points, grabbed 21 rebounds, blocked seven shots and corralled two steals as the Diplomats handled Dickinson (51-43 W) and Haverford (89-53) last week.

Versus Haverford, she scored 22 points, brought down 12 rebounds, blocked four shots and added a steal as she became the third F&M women's basketball player to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds with her second board of the day against the Fords.

She joined Anne Krumrine '90 (1,811 points, 1,180 rebounds) and Tina Breithaupt '94 (1,293 points, 1,108 rebounds) in the exclusive club as she became only the fourth basketball player in school history to accomplish the feat as Gus Lovett '53 (1,223 points, 1,161 rebounds) is the only men's player to reach a grand in both categories.

Overall, she now has 1,309 points, 218 blocked shots and 1,026 rebounds as she ranks sixth in scoring, second in rebounding and blocked shots in F&M history.

In the latest Centennial Conference statistics, she ranks among the leaders in blocked shots (3.39 bpg, first), rebounding (14.2 rpg, first), offensive rebounds (5.50 rpg, first), defensive rebounds (8.71 rpg, first), field goal percentage (.531, second) and scoring (15.8 ppg, third).

As a team, F&M ranks among the Conference leaders in three-point field goal percentage (.361, first), blocked shots (.450 bpg, second), three-point field goals made (5.29, second), assists (16.43 apg, third), assist/turnover ratio (0.76, third), field goal percentage (.420, third), field goal percentage defense (.354, fourth), rebounding defense (38.5 rpg, fourth), rebounding margin (+2.9, fifth), turnover margin (-0.14, fifth), defensive rebounds (26.64 rpg, fifth), scoring offense (66.6 ppg, fifth), scoring defense (58.1 ppg, fifth), scoring margin (+8.5 ppg, fifth), free throw percentage (.665, sixth), steals (10.79 spg, sixth), offensive rebounds (14.79 rpg, sixth), rebounding offense (41.4 rpg, seventh) and three-point field goal percentage defense (.323, ninth).

F&M (8-7, 8-3 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on February 3 at home versus Johns Hopkins University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
