Tierney, Johns & Abernathy Rank Among Nation's Best in March 7 NCAA Women's Basketball Statistics

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College center Amy Abernathy (Sr., Far Hills, NJ/American School Paris), point guard Dana Johns (So., York, PA/Eastern York) and guard Courtney Tierney (Sr., Princeton, NJ/Hun School) rank among the national leaders in the latest NCAA Division III women's basketball statistics for games through March 7.

A 2004 D3hoops.com Preseason All-America selection and a finalist for the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team, Abernathy ranks second in the nation in rebounding with 13.8 boards per game, 1.3 boards behind national leader Jacclyn Rock of Staten Island (15.1 rpg).

In addition, she ranks fourth in blocked shots per game with 4.6, 0.9 off the pace of national leader Karin Schaller of Blufton (5.5 bpg), and 39th in field goal percentage at 52.8 percent, 15.2 percent behind Alicia Davis of Loras (68.0 percent).

The third women's player in F&M history to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career, Abernathy now has 1,473 points, 1,141 rebounds and 268 blocked shots as she concluded her career sixth in scoring, second in rebounding and second in blocked shots in F&M history.

At guard, Tierney ranks among the nation's best three-point shooters as she ranks 46th in three-point field goals per game (2.3). Overall, Angel Hall of Anderson tops the nation in three-pointers per game (3.5).

The team leader in steals with 71, Johns ranks 45th in the nation in steals per game with 3.2, 2.4 off the pace of national leader Stephanie Cleary of Ithaca (5.7).

Franklin & Marshall concluded the season 12-12 overall and 12-6 in Centennial Conference play to finish fourth in the 11-team conference.
