Diplomats Finish 185th in NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Home Attendance

LANCASTER, PA -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced today that Franklin & Marshall College ranked 185th in Division III women's basketball home attendance for the 2004 season.

In 14 home games, the F&M women's basketball team attracted 2,541 people to the Mayser Center, an average of 182 fans per contest to tie with Albright College (1,815 fans in 10 games) for 185th place. Overall, 4,374 spectators witnessed a Franklin & Marshall College women's basketball game during the 2004 season as the team drew 1,833 fans in 10 road games this year.

Overall, 2004 was a banner year for Division III women's basketball as the 415 teams attracted a record 1,039,547 fans to establish a new record average of 212 per game.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire led the Division III rankings with an average of 1,105 fans (12,160 in 11 games), bettering runner-up Christopher Newport's 931 (9,314 in 10 games).

Wisconsin-Stout (901), Capital (861), Hardin Simmons (861), Bowdoin (814), Scranton (746), Buena Vista (715), St. Scholastica (702) and Mississippi College (692) rounded out the top 10 teams in home attendance.

Franklin & Marshall concluded the 2004 season 12-12 overall and 12-6 in Centennial Conference play to finish fourth in the 11-team conference.
