Johns Scores 21 as Diplomats Cage Lincoln Lions For 59-53

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – Point guard Dana Johns (Jr., York, PA/Eastern York) scored 21 points, hauled in seven rebounds, dished out six assists and swiped five steals in a 59-53 victory over Lincoln University. Johns led the Diplomats scoring 13 of her game high 21 points in the first half on four-of-six shooting from the field, including two-of-three from beyond the arc and a perfect three-for-three from the charity stripe, as the Diplomats shot a blistering 50 percent from the field on 13-of-26 from the field to take a 35-22 lead heading into the locker room. The Lions attempted to claw their way back into the game as F&M shot six-of-31 from the field in the final frame while the Lady Lions used 12 points from Asha Atkinson to pull within striking distance of the Diplomats and victory. However, Lincoln could not over take F&M as Franklin & Marshall shot 83.3 percent from the charity stripe (10-of-12) in the half to defeat Lincoln University 59-53. Overall, two Diplomats recorded double-doubles as Lauren Dodrill (Sr., Timonium, MD/Roland Park) scored 12 points and hauled in 10 rebounds and Emily Weaver (So., Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) chipped in 11 points and recorded 11 rebounds, including ten defensive boards, to key F&M to the victory. For Lincoln (4-5), Atkinson scored 21 points, pulled down seven rebounds, dished out two assists, blocked a shot and recorded three steals to power the Lions. Franklin & Marshall (3-6, 2-2 CC) will return to action on January 5th at home versus Centennial Conference foe McDaniel College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
