LANCASTER, PA – Attacker Kiki Foster (Sr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) scored four goals and handed out an assist as the #10 ranked Franklin & Marshall College women’s lacrosse team stopped Drew University 12-5 in non-conference women’s lacrosse at Sponaugle-Williamson Field.

The win snaps a four game losing streak by Franklin & Marshall to Drew as the Diplomats last defeated the Rangers 19-4 on March 30, 1996 in Madison, New Jersey.

The Diplomats and Foster wasted little time in taking the lead as midfielder Kelly Cassels (Jr., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) fed a pass to Foster on the left side of the cage for a 1-0 lead thirty seconds into the game.

Franklin & Marshall expanded the lead to 3-0 as midfielder Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/The Hill School) scored off feeds from attacker Catherine Onnen (So., Lutherville, MD/St. Paul’s School for Girls) and Foster at 26:10 and 25.51, respectively, to force the Rangers to take a timeout.

Following the break, the Diplomats continued to score as attacker Jen Pritchard (Fr., Media, PA/Penncrest) buried a feed from Onnen into the upper left corner of the cage for a 4-0 lead before Foster finished a pass from Cassels into the upper right corner of the goal at 6:45 for a 5-0 lead.

The Rangers broke through 21 seconds later as midfielder Courtney Cunningham threaded a pass to attacker Kaity Ryan to trim the margin back to 5-1.

However, Franklin & Marshall carried a five goal lead into halftime as midfielder Sarah Meisenberg (Fr., Severna Park, MD/Severn School) weaved through the Rangers’ defense for an unassisted tally with 29 seconds left in the first half and a 6-1 lead at intermission.

Franklin & Marshall pushed the lead out to eight goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half as Foster scored on an assist from Onnen with 28:34 to play before tallying a free position goal at 23:36.

Midfielder Brenna Dolphin (Jr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) added an unassisted score less than three minutes later at the 20:13 mark for a 9-1 lead.

Drew trimmed the lead back to six goals, however, as Ryan and Cunningham scored unassisted goals at 19:44 and 18:36, respectively, but F&M netted three goals in a span of 1:50 from 16:02 to 14:12 to take a nine-goal lead.

Midfielder Allison Solomon (Fr., Damascus, MD/Academy of the Holy Cross) scored on an assist from Summers at 16:02, Onnen put in an assist from Pritchard at 15:09 and Meisenberg registered an unassisted goal at 14:12 as the Diplomats jumped out to a 12-3 lead to coast to the win.

The Rangers closed the gap to five goals in the closing minutes of the game as Ryan scored off an assist from Cunningham at 6:10 and Cunningham put in a free position goal at 1:54 for the 12-5 final score.

In goal, Kamissa Mort (Sr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) made seven saves on 19 shots to earn the win, while Drew’s Casey O’Brien stopped 18 of the Diplomats 43 shots.

Franklin & Marshall (4-0, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on March 25 at Haverford College in the Centennial Conference season opener. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
