LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team moved up to #8 in the March 27 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Poll. Ranked #10 in the preseason poll, #12 on March 13 and #10 on March 20, the Diplomats have opened the season 5-1 with wins over #12 Washington & Lee (13-10 W), William Smith College (16-4 W), Connecticut College (14-9 W), Drew University (12-5 W) and Haverford College (16-6 W) and a loss to #1 Salisbury University (14-8 L). Ranked eighth in the final Laxpower.com Women’s Power Rankings and #10 in the final Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III poll last season, the Diplomats have been led in scoring this year by Kiki Foster (Sr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) this year as she has 14 goals and four assists for 18 points in six games to date. Last week, she scored nine goals and handed out two assists for 11 points in a 2-1 week to earn Centennial Conference Weekly Honor Roll as the Diplomats knocked off Drew and Haverford and fell to Salisbury. Against Drew, she scored four goals and handed out an assist before tallying three goals and an assist against Haverford. Foster now has 128 goals and 32 assists in her career for 160 points as she moved to 12th on the career goals list at the College (surpassing former Diplomat and current Dickinson head coach Kasey Ryan '99 - 127 goals). Further, she surpassed former teammate Allison O'Meara '05 (154) for 16th in points and is now two points shy of surpassing Kim Kelly '00 for 15th and three shy of eclipsing Megan Bermingham '01 for 14th. One of the most successful Division III women’s lacrosse programs in the nation, Franklin & Marshall has captured six conference titles as the Diplomats have competed in 14 national championship tournaments and recorded a mark of 285-146-3. 2006 IWLCA Division III Women's Lacrosse Poll (March 27) 1.
