F&M Ranks Third in April 17 NCAA Metro Region Women's Lacrosse Poll

LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College women’s lacrosse team is ranked third in the April 17 NCAA Metro Region poll released on April 19 by the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Committee. F&M (11-2, 7-1 Centennial Conference), which clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference women’s lacrosse playoffs courtesy an 18-8 win over Dickinson College on April 19, is ranked behind Gettysburg College and The College of New Jersey, and ahead of Rowan University, Messiah College and Lycoming College. Overall, F&M is 2-1 against regionally ranked opponents as the Diplomats fell 8-7 in triple overtime at Gettysburg on April 5 and defeated South Atlantic Region #1 Washington & Lee University 13-10 in Lancaster on March 11 and New York Region #4 William Smith College 16-4 on March 14 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Led by head coach Anne Phillips ’80 (49-19), who moved into a tie with Heather Setzler (49-13 from 1989-92) for second place in career wins at the College, the Diplomats ranked 30th in ground balls (29.83 per game), 15th in scoring offense (14.17 gpg), 18th in scoring defense (7.33 gpg), 14th in scoring margin (6.83 gpg), 12th in caused turnovers (13.75 ctpg) and ninth in draw controls (13.83 per game) in the latest NCAA statistics. Ranked #6 in the Laxpower Computer Rankings and the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll and #5 in the Inside Lacrosse poll, Franklin & Marshall (11-2, 7-1 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 21 at Rowan University in non-conference action.
