LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College women’s lacrosse
team is ranked fourth in the April 24 NCAA Metro Region poll
released on April 26 by the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse
Committee.
Ranked third in the April 17 poll, F&M (12-3, 8-1 Centennial Conference) is ranked behind Gettysburg College, The College of New Jersey and Rowan University, and ahead of Dickinson College and Montclair State University. Overall, F&M is 2-3 against regionally ranked opponents as the Diplomats fell 8-7 in triple overtime at Gettysburg on April 5, 15-12 at Rowan University on April 21 and 14-8 at South Atlantic Region #1 Salisbury University on March 26. Further, the Diplomats defeated South Atlantic Region #2 Washington & Lee University 13-10 in Lancaster on March 11 and New York Region #4 William Smith College 16-4 on March 14 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Led by head coach Anne Phillips ’80 (50-20), who surpassed Heather Setzler (49-13 from 1989-92) for second place in career wins at the College, the Diplomats are ranked 15th in scoring offense (14.27 gpg) and winning percentage (80.0%), 17th in scoring defense (7.6 gpg), 16th in scoring margin (6.67 gpg) and caused turnovers (13.33 ctpg) and seventh in draw controls (14.2 per game) in the latest NCAA statistics. Ranked #8 in the Laxpower.com, Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association and Inside Lacrosse polls, the Diplomats finished the regular season 12-3, 8-1 in the Centennial Conference to clinch the #2 seed for the upcoming Centennial Conference playoffs on April 29-30 at Gettysburg College. On April 29, the Diplomats will take on #3 seed Dickinson College 45 minutes following the conclusion of the other semifinal between #1 seed Gettysburg College and #4 seed Ursinus College. The winners of the semifinals will clash at 1:00 p.m. on April 30 at Gettysburg in the Centennial Conference championship game with a berth in the NCAA playoffs on the line.
