Rutherford, Mort & Diplomats Rank Among National Leaders in May 1 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Statistics

LANCASTER, PA – Franklin & Marshall College goalie Kamissa Mort (Sr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring), defender Holly Rutherford (Sr., Rochester, NY/Brighton) and the Diplomats’ women’s lacrosse team are ranked among the national leaders in the May 1 NCAA women’s lacrosse statistics for games through April 23.

As a team, the Diplomats are ranked 19th in scoring offense (13.82 gpg), 20th in winning percentage (76.5%) and scoring defense (7.88 gpg), 17th in scoring margin (5.94 gpg) and caused turnovers (12.76 ctpg) and sixth in draw controls (14.12 per game).

Individually, Mort is ranked 16th in goals against average (7.81 per game), while Rutherford is 29th in caused turnovers (2.53 per game).

For the year, Mort has 105 saves and 121 goals against for a .465 save percentage, 7.81 goals against average and 12-4 record, while Rutherford has 45 caused turnovers in 17 games.

Ranked fourth in the NCAA Metro Region poll and eighth in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national poll, the Diplomats earned the #2 seed for the Centennial Conference playoffs.

In the playoffs, F&M knocked off third-seed Dickinson College 15-12 in the semifinals before falling to top-seed Gettysburg College 8-6 in the title game.

Franklin & Marshall (13-4, 8-1 Centennial Conference) is awaiting word from the National Collegiate Athletic Association regarding a possible at-large bid to the NCAA’s national championship playoffs. The announcement will be made on Sunday, May 7 between 9 and 10 p.m. on College Sports Television.

One of the most successful Division III women’s lacrosse programs in the nation, Franklin & Marshall has captured six conference titles as the Diplomats have competed in 14 national championship tournaments and recorded a mark of 294-148-3 in 30 years of competition.
