Keever & Rutherford Named to 2006 IWLCA North/South All-Star Game Roster

LANCASTER, PA – Midfielder Eileen Keever (Sr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) and defender Holly Rutherford (Sr., Rochester, NY/Brighton) of the Franklin & Marshall College women’s lacrosse team have been chosen to take part in the 2006 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Farewell Lacrosse Festival Division III North/South Senior All-Star game sponsored by STX.

The game will take place at the STX Farewell Lacrosse Festival on Saturday, June 10 at Johns Hopkins University at 11:00 a.m., as Keever and Rutherford will represent F&M on the South team. The festival is intended to highlight women’s lacrosse and collegiate seniors.

The Festival will showcase the nation’s top seniors. The Division III battle will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Division II seniors at 1:00 p.m. and Division I at 3:00.

The eighth player in Centennial Conference history to earn first team honors three times, Rutherford earned All-Centennial Conference first team honors in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

A 2005 All-Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region All-Star, Rutherford recorded 50 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 51 caused turnovers with one assist this year as she raised her career scoring total to 29 goals and five assists for 34 points while anchoring an F&M defense which allowed 7.50 goals per game.

A 2004 All-Centennial Conference second team selection, Keever moved up to All-Centennial Conference first team honors as a senior as she tallied 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points with 44 ground balls, 25 draw controls and 14 caused turnovers to raise her career scoring total to 55 goals and 36 assists for 91 points.

A three-time All-Centennial Conference selection in field hockey garnering 2004 and 2005 first team and 2003 second team honors, the North-South game will mark the second of the year for Keever who was named to the 2005 National Field Hockey Coaches Association North/South Senior All-Star game in the fall.

A 2005 womensfieldhockey.com third team All-America and Dartfish/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-South Region second team selection, she was a 2004 All-Region first team and the 2004 STX/NFHCA All-America second team in field hockey as she concluded her career with 45-17-107 as to rank fourth in career goals at the College behind Laura Kramedas ’80 (53), Sue Bowen ’80 (52) and Brittany Croll (52).

This year, Keever & Rutherford led Franklin & Marshall to a #8 ranking in the final IWLCA poll and a #6 ranking in the final Laxpower.com poll as the Diplomats concluded the season 15-5 and advanced to the Centennial Conference title game at Gettysburg College and NCAA Regional Finals at SUNY-Cortland.

Historically, the pair led the Diplomats to the best four-year record in school history as the team finished 53-22 from 2003-06 with four consecutive appearances in the Centennial Conference title game.

One of the most successful Division III women’s lacrosse programs in the nation, Franklin & Marshall has captured six conference titles as the Diplomats have competed in 14 national championship tournaments and recorded a mark of 296-149-3 in 30 years of competition.
