Summers, Meisenberg & Pritchard Named to Womenslacrosse.com Rookie Team

LANCASTER, PA – Attacker Jen Pritchard (Fr., Media, PA/Penncrest) and midfielders Sarah Meisenberg (Fr., Severna Park, MD/Severn) and Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/Hill School) have been named to the 2006 Womenslacrosse.com Division III Rookie Team.

Franklin & Marshall was the only institution to place more than two players on the team as Amherst College placed two on the 16 member team. In addition, the Diplomats were the only Centennial Conference institution with a selection as Mount Holyoke, Middlebury, Nazareth, Hamilton, St. Mary’s, Western New England, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Babson, Marymount, Trinity and Colby all had one selection to the team.

An All-Centennial Conference second team and Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region first team selection, Pritchard earned womenslacrosse.com All-America third team honors to become the first freshman in program history to garner All-America honors.

She experienced a breakout freshman season tallying 52 goals and 10 assists for 62 points to lead the team in goals and rank third in points. In addition, she chipped in three game winning goals, 36 ground balls, eight free position goals, 39 draw controls and nine cause turnovers. Historically, she recorded the 13th 50-goal season in program history and tied All-America selection Alexis O’Meara ‘05 for the freshman goal record at 52 goals.

An IWLCA All-Region first team selection, Meisenberg earned All-Centennial Conference honorable mention honors this year as she scored 36 goals and 13 assists for 49 points. The team leader in ground balls (70) and draw controls (44), she added three game winning goals and 30 caused turnovers to finish second on the team.

An All-Centennial Conference and IWLCA All-Region second team selection, Summers concluded the season with 31 goals and five assists for 36 points, while adding 65 ground balls, 27 draw controls, 30 caused turnovers and a team high four game-winning goals.

Franklin & Marshall concluded the year with a #8 ranking in the final IWLCA poll and a #6 ranking in the final Laxpower.com poll as the Diplomats finished 15-5 and advanced to the Centennial Conference title game at Gettysburg College and NCAA Regional Finals at SUNY-Cortland.

One of the most successful Division III women's lacrosse programs in the nation, Franklin & Marshall has captured six conference titles as the Diplomats have competed in 14 national championship tournaments and recorded a mark of 296-149-3 in 30 years of competition.
