Diplomats Compete at East Stroudsburg University Wrestling Open

STROUDSBURG, PA – Al Gianforti (Fr., Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) went 4-2 at 149 lbs. to lead Franklin & Marshall College at the East Stroudsburg University Wrestling Open.

Following an 8-3 loss to Mike Arias of the Citadel in his first match, Gianforti defeated Hofstra’s Chris Booth (2-1 W), Pitt’s Julian Warshaw (11-5), James Madison’s Chet Jacobs (8-5 W) and Columbia’s Derrick Sickles (injury default) and Shippensburg’s Dan Nauman (3-1 W) before falling to Harvard’s Matt Button (3-1 L).

In other matches, James Schulz (Fr., Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) won by major decision over Nausau Community College’s Ben Bellesia (12-3 W), fell to American’s Tony Fuschino by major decision (12-4 L), pinned Lock Haven’s Kurt Cole in 5:56, defeated Montclair State’s Sean Hayes (9-7 W) and fell by major decision to Old Dominion’s Brian Lenhart (13-5 L).

Franklin & Marshall College will return to action on December 2 at home versus the United State Military Academy. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m.
