LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall wrestling team will square off with James Madison University and Gettysburg College at 2:00 p.m. in the Mayser Center. The highlight bout of the F&M-JMU match will be the showdown at 133 lbs. between F&M (7-3) and James Madison (3-9) at 133 lbs. as the Diplomats Trent Dixon (Sr., Baltimore, MD/Eastern Technical) and the Dukes Rich Gebauer will meet. Dixon enters the match with a 4-4 mark following a forfeit victory in a 34-9 victory at Division III Elizabethtown College on January 24. Gebauer, a 2005 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, returns to his alma mater boasting a 16-9 record. The star to date for the Diplomats has been Al Gianforti (Fr., Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) who holds a 19-8 record at 149 lbs, while another wrestler to watch is 165 lbs. Justin Herbert (Fr., New Milford, PA/Blue Ridge) who is 13-5 on the year. Historically, F&M is 2-3 all-time against the Dukes since the series began in 1982. Last year, James Madison defeated F&M 22-20 in Harrisonburg, Virginia as the Dukes rallied from a 20-3 deficit with four bouts remaining in the match. In the other match of the day, Franklin & Marshall will take on Division III Gettysburg College (1-8). F&M, which is a member of the Centennial Conference with Gettysburg College in all sports except wrestling and squash, will look to improve to 55-6-2 all-time against the Bullets since the series began in 1930. F&M is 2-1 against Gettysburg in the last three meetings between the two programs as the Bullets defeated the Diplomats 28-14 on January 12, 1999 in Gettysburg, but Franklin & Marshall downed Gettysburg 31-16 on January 26, 2000 in Lancaster and 27-17 in Gettysburg on January 23, 2001.
