Zambrano Scores Twice as Franklin & Marshall Manages McDaniel 2-1 2OT in Women's Soccer

WESTMINSTER, MD – Amanda Zambrano (Sr., Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) scored twice, including the game-winner midway through the second overtime period, to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 double overtime victory at McDaniel College in Centennial Conference action. The Diplomats (7-1-1, 2-1 CC) broke a 1-1 tie as Nicole Boyle (Fr., Boca Raton, FL/Spanish River) found Zambrano off a corner kick for the game-winner. The goal marked Zambrano’s second score off a corner kick in the game as she gave F&M a 1-0 lead 4:18 into the contest as Julie Fleming (Sr., Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) connected with her on a corner kick in the game’s opening minutes. McDaniel knotted the score prior to halftime as Tara Healy tallied an unassisted goal at 34:17 to tie the game. The two teams battled through 71:01 without either squad finding the back of the net again before Boyle and Zambrano connected to hand Franklin & Marshall its seventh win of the season. Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on October 5 at Dickinson College.
