GETTYSBURG, PA – Katie Ferraro finished a pass from Katie Myers at 82:15 as the #4 seed Gettysburg College Bullets upended #5 seed Franklin & Marshall College 1-0 in the opening round of the 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Region Women’s Soccer Championship playoffs. Gettysburg (9-7-3) advances to Erie, Pennsylvania for the semifinals of the tournament versus host and #1 seed Penn State Behrend (14-2-4) at 11:00 a.m. In the other semifinal, the victor of the other first round game between #6 Washington & Jefferson (10-8-2) and #3 Carnegie Mellon (10-4-2) in Pittsburgh will also advance to Erie to square off with #2 Ursinus (13-4-2) at 2:00 p.m. Gettysburg had the better of play throughout much of the game out shooting Franklin & Marshall 11-1 in the game, including a 9-1 advantage in the second half. The Bullets broke the ice and punched in the game-winner as Myers crossed a pass to Ferraro who buried a shot into an open net for the game’s only score. In goal, Robyn Jones (Jr., Titusville, NJ/Pennington School) made five saves for the Diplomats, while Kristin Short notched one save. Franklin & Marshall (10-6-1, 5-5 Centennial Conference) concluded the season with the 11th 10+ win season in the 26 year history of the women’s soccer program at the College.
