Diplomats Kick Muhlenberg Mules 1-0 in Women's Soccer

LANCASTER, PA – Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/Hill) finished a centering pass from Jennifer Kahn (So., Rockville Centre, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) at the 83:35 mark as the Franklin & Marshall College women’s soccer team defeated Muhlenberg College 1-0 in Centennial Conference competition at Baker Field. Tied 0-0 at the half, the Diplomats (8-2-1, 3-2 Centennial Conference) controlled play in the second half firing off three shots while holding the Mules (3-6-2, 2-3-1 CC) without a scoring chance or shot in the final 45 minutes of play to record F&M’s first win over Muhlenberg in women’s soccer since a 1-0 victory over the Mules on October 16, 1996 in Lancaster. Further, the win snaps a nine-game losing streak to Muhlenberg and raises F&M’s record to 2-13 all-time against the Mules.
In goal, Robyn Jones (Jr., Titusville, PA/Pennington) recorded
her fifth shutout of the season as she now has 21 shutouts
in 50 career games, including 16 in 41 games at Division I
Rutgers University, an average of a shutout every 2.32 games.
For Muhlenberg, Kayla Boisvert made three saves to take the
loss.
Franklin & Marshall will continue the season at home versus
Washington College on October 15. Game time is set for noon.
