Muhlenberg Manages Franklin & Marshall 6-3 in Women's Tennis

LANCASTER, PA – Muhlenberg College used a pair of victories in doubles and wins at #1, 3-4 and 6 singles to hold off the Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats 6-3 in Centennial Conference women’s tennis competition.

Playing indoors at F&M’s Alumni Sports & Fitness Center due to cold temperatures and gusty winds, the team of Amy Schmidt and Carly Rotfeld won 8-5 at #1 doubles, while the pairing of Stacy Lipschutz and Jacqi Magner recorded an 8-5 win at #3 doubles for the Mules (4-5, 4-0 Centennial Conference). In the #2 doubles match, Lizzy Denenberg (Sr., Wilmington, DE/Sanford School) and Jenna Ishkanian (So., Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) tallied an 8-6 win

The Diplomats recorded two wins in singles as Denenberg knocked off Pam Kimmelman 7-6 (9-6), 6-2 at #2 and Ishkanian stopped Lipschutz 6-3, 6-3 at #5 for the 6-3 final.

Franklin & Marshall (6-3, 2-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 7 at home versus Ursinus College. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
