Franklin & Marshall Bests Ursinus 8-1 in Women's Tennis

by Sports Information
4/7/06

LANCASTER, PA – Kate Gaskins (Jr., Richmond, VA/Mills Goodwin) won 6-0, 6-2 at #1 singles and teamed with Chrissy Henkel (So., Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) to record an 8-0 win at #1 doubles to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women’s tennis team to an 8-1 win over visiting Ursinus College in Centennial Conference competition.

Playing indoors at F&M’s Alumni Sports & Fitness Center due to potential inclement weather, the Diplomats swept the doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to improve to 7-3 on the season, 3-2 in Centennial Conference play.

The win improves the Diplomats to 30-3 all-time against the Bears in women’s tennis and marks the 30th consecutive victory by F&M over Ursinus (3-8, 0-5 CC) since the Bears last victory during the 1977 season.

Franklin & Marshall (7-3, 3-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 8 at Washington College. Match time is set for noon.
