Diplomats Down Bryn Mawr & Fall to Johns Hopkins in Women's Tennis

LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College women’s tennis team fell at Johns Hopkins University 6-3 on April 21, but defeated Bryn Mawr College 9-0 at home in the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center to finish 1-1 on the weekend of April 21-22.

Against Hopkins, the team of Elizabeth Denenberg (Sr., Wilmington, DE/Sanford School) and Jenna Ishkanian (So., Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) stopped the pairing of Debbie Blass and Becky Busch 8-5 at #2 doubles, while Barbara Bee (Jr., Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) was victorious 6-2, 6-2 over Jill Seidman at #3 singles and Ishkanian recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win over Priya Puri at #5 singles.

The win secured a spot in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament for the Blue Jays (13-3, 7-2 Centennial Conference), while the loss eliminated the Diplomats (9-5, 5-4 Centennial Conference) from competing in the postseason.

Against Bryn Mawr, the Diplomats swept all nine matches to record a 9-0 victory over the visiting Owls.

Katie Gaskins (Jr., Richmond, VA/Mills Goodwin) teamed with Bee to record an 8-4 win at #1 doubles over Jessie Tarlov and Marie Saeger, before notching a 6-1, 6-2 win over Karen Ginsburg at #1 singles to lead Franklin & Marshall to the victory.
The win improves F&M to 13-0 all-time against the Owls, while the loss to Johns Hopkins dropped F&M to 23-7 against the Blue Jays.

Franklin & Marshall (9-5, 5-4 Centennial Conference) will conclude the season on April 24 at McDaniel College. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
