Diplomats Manage McDaniel 9-0 in Women's Tennis

WESTMINSTER, MD – Franklin & Marshall College concluded the 2006 women’s tennis season in style defeating McDaniel College 9-0 in Centennial Conference action.

Playing without #1 player Katie Gaskins (Jr., Richmond, VA/Mills Goodwin), the Diplomats wasted little time in establishing a lead as the #1 doubles pairing of Barbara Bee (Jr., Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) and Christina Henkel (So., Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) defeated Danielle Magid and Kate McLean 8-5. At #2 doubles, the team of Elizabeth Denenberg (Sr., Wilmington, DE/Sanford School) and Jenna Ishkanian (So., Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) managed the pairing of Emily Taylor and Whitney Hines 8-1, before the duo of Lauren Hakkinen (Jr., Doylestown, PA/CB East) and Kelsey Tylus (Fr., Skillman, NJ/Hun School) downed Helen Brooks and Katie Seibel 8-3 at #3 doubles.

In singles, Denenberg, Bee, Danielle Barish (Fr., Brooklandville, MD/St. Paul’s School for Girls), Ishkanian, Henkel and Tylus recorded victories as the Diplomats notched their third 9-0 victory of the season.

Franklin & Marshall concludes the season 10-5 and 6-4 in Centennial Conference.
