Bee, Gaskins & Diplomats Rank Among Region's Best in Final Atlantic South Women's Tennis Rankings

LANCASTER, PA – Kate Gaskins (Jr., Richmond, VA/Mills Goodwin), Barbara Bee (Jr., Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) and the Franklin & Marshall College women’s tennis team are ranked among the South Atlantic Region’s best in the final 2006 FILA NCAA Women’s Tennis Rankings. Franklin & Marshall finished the season ranked #12 in the region, one spot above cross-county rival and #13 ranked Elizabethtown College, as the Diplomats were one of five Centennial Conference programs ranked in the top 15 joining #5 Swarthmore College, #8 Washington College, #9 Muhlenberg College and #10 Johns Hopkins University. Individually, Gaskins finished 7-6 at #1 on the season, including a 4-3 mark in Centennial Conference play, to tie for 26th in singles, while the pairing of Gaskins and Bee concluded the year 16th in doubles with a record of 6-4, 4-3 in Centennial Conference play. The ranking concludes a season of honors for Gaskins who earned All-Centennial Conference first team honors while leading F&M to a 10-5 overall record and a 6-4 mark in conference play. The honor marked the second All-Centennial Conference nod of her career after garnering first team honors in 2005 with an 11-3 record, including an 8-2 mark in Centennial Conference matches, as she advanced to the semifinals at the 2005 Centennial Conference Women’s Tennis Championships hosted by Swarthmore College. For her career, Gaskins is 29-12, including a 10-3 mark at #2 singles, as she is now 21-6 in Centennial Conference play.
