Swarthmore, PA -- Franklin & Marshall College's Andrew Thompson (Fr., Windsor, CT/Loomis-Chaffee), Keith Hamilton (Sr., Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) and Matt Batzel (Fr., Susquehanna, PA/Susquehanna) went 1-2-3 in the men's 800 meter run as the Diplomats men placed third at the Swarthmore College Track & Field Invitational. Overall, Thompson placed first in a career best 2:01.3, while Hamilton and Batzel crossed the line in 2:07.9 and 2:09.2, respectively for 24 of the team's 117 points. Senior Dan Massey (Sr., Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) picked up a victory in the 100-meter dash (11.2) and placed third in the 200-meter dash (22.9). In field events, Bill Ambrose (Fr., East Petersburg, PA/Hempfield) threw a collegiate career best 51.76 meters (169'10) to win the men's javelin competition. Mark Binkley (Jr., Lemoyne, PA/Cedar Cliff) earned a pair of victories as he leapt 5.47 meters (17'11.50) to finish first in the men's long jump and 1.57 meters (5'02.00) to claim the high jump. Cassie McCormick (So., Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) and Jeanette Finster (So., LaCanada, CA/Flintridge Preparatory) placed second in the 3,000 and 1,500 meter runs, respectively, as the F&M women's team placed fourth with 50 points. Bryn Benford (Fr., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) accounted for 26 of the Diplomats points by placing first in the discus (29.79 meters/97'09) and second in the javelin (27.78 meters/91'02) and triple jump (9.85 meters/32'03.75).
