Diplomats Open 2002-03 Indoor Track & Field Season at Bucknell Open

LEWISBURG, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College men's and women's track & field teams opened the indoor season at the Bucknell University Blue & Orange Open.

For the Diplomats, Jeanette Finster (Jr., LaCanada, CA/Flintridge Preparatory) and Andrew Thompson (So., Windsor, CT/Loomis-Chaffee) reset the women's and men's school records in the 500 meter run with times of 1:22.02 and 1:05.83, respectively. The performances erase the previous records of 1:26.13 (Hadara Adelson '01, 1998) and 1:08.38 (Keith Hamilton '02, 2002).

In the women's 1,000 meters, Tara Cooney (Fr., Douglaston, NY) bettered the school record of 3:21.35 (Stephanie Stroud '00, 1998) with a time of 3:17.91 in her first intercollegiate meet.

Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on January 7 at the Yale University Invitational.
