COLLEGEVILLE, PA - Franklin & Marshall College's Tara Cooney (Fr., Douglaston, NY/St. Francis) reset three school records to lead the Diplomats to a tie for eighth place at the 2003 Centennial Conference Indoor Track Championships hosted by Ursinus College. In the 800 meters, she lowered her school record time of 2:26.78 by eight hundredths of a second by crossing the finish line in 2:26.70 to finish eighth. She added also added school record performances in the distance medley relay and 4X400 meters. In the DMR, the team of Jeanette Finster (Jr., LaCanada, CA/Flintridge Preparatory), Beth Randolph (Fr., St. Davids, PA/Episcopal Academy), Cooney and Anne Blommer (Fr., Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) placed seventh in a time of 13:02.65 to erase the previous record of 13:13.32 set during the 2002 season by the squad of Finster, Jackie Bentley (Sr., Mercersburg, PA/James Buchanan), Sam Pollinger (Jr., Mahwah, NJ/Northern Highlands) and Cassie McCormick. She finished her record-breaking performances in the 4X400 as the team of Randolph, Finster, Brittney Dhein (Fr., Telford, PA/Pennridge) and Cooney finished seventh in 4:15.06 to reset their own record of 4:17.83 established on February 15 at the Bucknell University Winter Classic. In other events, Robyn Haertel (Fr., Millburn, NJ/Millburn) placed sixth in the 55 meter dash (7.73) and 10th in the 200 meter dash (27.79), while Finster crossed the line in 1:03.00 to finish eighth in the 400 meter dash. Bryn Benford (So., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) was a star of the meet for F&M as she placed sixth in the high jump (4-07.75), and fifth in the long jump (15-09.00), triple jump (33-09.50) and shot put (34-11.75) to account for 15 of the Diplomats' 24 points. Dickinson College claimed the Conference Championship with 144 points followed by Gettysburg (134.50), McDaniel (94), Haverford (75.50), Muhlenberg (72), Ursinus (45), Swarthmore (36), Johns Hopkins (24), F&M (24) and Bryn Mawr (12). 55 Meter Dash
