Benford Claims Javelin & Triple Jump at Ursinus Track & Field Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Bryn Benford (So., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) went 10.54 meters in the triple jump and threw 32.22 in the javelin to win both events in leading the Franklin & Marshall College outdoor track & field teams at the Ursinus College Invitational. Benford's jump was enough to win the event by 0.61 meters over Janelle James of SUNY-Brockport (9.93 meters), and her throw bettered the mark of Haverford's Teresa Traxler (30.93 meters). In addition, Benford finished second in the discus with a toss of 34.07 meters. In men's competition, Chris Williams (So., Islamorada, FL/Loomis Chaffee) finished 16th in the 100 meters (12.87), seventh in the 110 high hurdles (20.95) and 13th in the long jump (15 feet), Paul Riley (Jr., Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg) finished third in the steeplechase (10:04.20). Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on April 19 at the Widener University Invitational in Chester, Pennsylvania.
