CHESTER, PA – Kelly Witkowski (Sr., Colts Neck, NJ/Marlboro) placed ninth in the women’s javelin and Andrew Thompson (So., Windsor, CT/Loomis-Chaffee) finished sixth in the men’s 400 meter dash to lead the Franklin & Marshall College track & field team at the Widener University Invitational. In the javelin, Witkowski threw 28.56 meters to edge Haverford’s Caitlin Kight (28.38 meters). In addition, she placed 16th in the shot put (8.88 meters) and 26th in the discus (23.50 meters). Tara Cooney (Fr., Douglaston, NY/St. Francis) and Sara Moser-Cohen (Fr., Fair Haven, NJ/Marine Academy of Science) finished 14th (2:23.50) and 18th (2:24.99) in the 800 meter run, respectively, and Bekah Egolf (So., Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) placed 14th (20:20.1) in the 5,000 meter run. In men’s competition, Thompson outdistanced Dickinson’s Tim Samson (50.57) to finish second among Centennial Conference competitors in the 400 meters behind Dickinson’s Chavaun Johnson (49.61) Paul Riley (Jr., Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg) crossed the finish line in 15:51.59 to place 25th in the 5,000 meter run and Luke Oeding (Sr., Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) won the pole vault with a height of 14 feet.
