SELINSGROVE, PA -- Robyn Haertel (So., Millburn, NJ/Millburn) finished eighth in the 55 meters (7.78), sixth in the 200 meters (27.89) and 10th in the long jump (4.48 meters) to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women's indoor track team at the 2004 Susquehanna University Invitational. Haertel started her day by qualifying eighth in the 55-meter preliminaries in a time of 7.84. In the finals, she sprinted to the line in 7.78 seconds to place eighth. In the 200 meters, she placed sixth in 27.89, while teammate Jeannette Finster (Sr., LaCanada, CA/Flintridge Prep) placed 14th in 28.61. Haertel concluded her day in the long jump flying 4.48 meters to place 10th. Bryn Benford (Jr., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) also recorded a strong showing placing 13th in the 55 meter hurdle prelims (9.76), second in the triple jump (10.56 meters) and shattered her own school record (34'-11.75", 2003) with a toss of 10.84 meters (35'-6.75") to place third in the shot put. Further, she placed sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 12.95 meters. Also in the field events, Laura Lautenbacher (Fr., Langhorne, PA/Nazareth Academy) cleared 9'-6" to place second in the high jump to tie her own school record, while Beth Randolph (So., St. Davids, PA/Episcopal Academy) cleared 7'-6" to place 18th. In the distance events, Meredith Janeczek (Fr., Hershey, PA/Hershey) placed 10th in the 1,500 meters in a time of 5:19.12. F&M had another strong showing in the 3,000 meters as Karen Ziga (Fr., Haverford, PA/Haverford) placed fourth (11:18.73), Megan Feehan (So., West Chester, PA/Henderson) 11th (12:11.69) and Julia Schwartz (So., Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) 14th (13:07.64). Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on February 27-28 at the Centennial Conference Championship Meet hosted by Haverford College. Results
