KINGS POINT, CT - Laura Lautenbacher (Fr., Langhorne, PA/Nazareth Academy) cleared 2.75 meters (9-0" 1/4') to break the school pole vault record and Bryn Benford (Jr., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) threw 37.37 meters (122'-0 3/4") in the hammer throw to shatter the hammer record as the Franklin & Marshall College women's track & field team competed at the Merchant Marine Academy Invitational. Lautenbacher's performance erased the previous record of 8'6" established by Courtney Weibel '03 and Lea Marcotrgiano '04. Further, Benford's mark eclipsed her own record of 116'-06" established at the Muhlenberg Invitational on April 3. In other top 10 performances, Robyn Haertel (So., Millburn, NJ/Millburn) placed seventh in the 100 meters (13.49), Nikki Salenteri (Fr., Crosswicks, NJ/Northern Burlington) crossed the line ninth in the 1500 meters (5:15.60), Karen Ziga (Fr., Haverford, PA/Havertown) finished third in the 5000 meters (18:58.65) and Jeannette Finster (Sr., LaCanada, CA/Flintridge Prep) placed third in the 400 hurdles (1:08.15). In the field events, Libby Haas (Fr., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern) finished sixth in the high jump (1.52 meters), Haertel placed fifth in the long jump (4.42 meters) and Benford finished seventh in the shot put (10.21 meters) and third in the discus (34.80 meters) Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on April 17 at the Gettysburg Invitational. 100 Meters
