GETTYSBURG, PA -- The Franklin & Marshall College women's track & field team broke or tied three school records while finishing third of nine teams at the 2004 Gettysburg College Mason-Dixon Invitational. Meredith Janeczek (Fr., Hershey, PA/Hershey) crossed the finish line in 12:31.24 to erase the previous school record of 13:02.4 in the 3,000 steeplechase which she established at the Little Three Championships hosted by Gettysburg on April 8.
In the sprints, Jeannette Finster (Sr., LaCanada, CA/Flintridge
Preparatory) crossed the line in 1:07.20 to reach the Eastern
College Athletic Conference qualifying mark of 1:07.24 in
the 400 hurdles
Off the track, Laura Lautenbacher (Fr., Langhorne, PA/Nazareth Academy) cleared 9'6" to shatter her own pole vault record of 9'0.25" established earlier this season. Further, Libby Haas (Fr., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern) cleared 5'3" to win the high jump and tie the school record established by Kathy Kavulak '95 during the 1994 season. Overall, Gettysburg College won the invitational with 299 points, while McDaniel and F&M tallied 207 and 75 points, respectively, to finish second and third. Frostburg (45), Howard Community College (26), Keystone (16), Montgomery Community College (11), Kings (7) and Hood (2) rounded out the nine competing schools.
