University of Maryland Terrapin Track & Field Invitational Rained Out

COLLEGE PARK, MD - A severe thunderstorm and heavy rain forced the cancellation of the Terrapin Invitational track and field meet at the University of Maryland after the completion of just five events on Saturday.

The event, which had drawn 40 teams from around the northeast, will not be made up.

Around 11:30 a.m., warnings of lightning in the area forced the suspension of action. After an hour of heavy rain, the facility was too wet to continue the meet in a safe fashion.
