NEWARK, DE Libby Haas (So., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) and Bryn Benford (Sr., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) combined for six top ten finishes to lead the Franklin & Marshall College womens track team to a sixth place finish at the University of Delaware Invitational at the Delaware Mini-Stadium. Haas placed ninth in the 200 meters (27.73) and second in the high jump (5-03.00), while Benford placed second in the triple jump (33-11.25), fourth in the discus (106-07), fifth in the hammer throw (113-05) and ninth in the javelin (91-05) as the Diplomats tallied 55 points to out perform Oneonta State (35), Ursinus (30) and Swarthmore (24.50). The Diplomats best event was the 5000 meters as Meredith Janeczek (So., Hershey, PA/Hershey), Virginia Earl (Fr., Strasburg, PA/Norwood-Norfolk) and Julia Schwartz (Jr., Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) placed first (18:22.68), third (19:57.83) and fourth (21:38.16), respectively. In other top ten finishes on the track, Tara Cooney (Jr., Douglaston, NY/St. Francis) placed fifth in the 400 meters (1:01.93) and Karen Ziga (So., Haverford, PA/Haverford) crossed the finish line in second place (39:27.75), while Franklin & Marshall placed fourth in the 4X400 relay (4:23.20).
