GETTYSBURG, PA – Meredith Janeczek (So., Hershey, PA/Hershey) finished in 11:29.39 to win the steeplechase and establish a stadium record and Bryn Benford (Sr., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) placed fourth in the high jump (4’-11.75”), fifth in the shot put (32’-07.50”) and first in the discus (123’-08.00”) and the hammer throw (134’-08.00”) to lead Franklin & Marshall to a fourth place finish at the Gettysburg College Women’s Mason-Dixon Outdoor Track & Field Invitational. Overall, Janeczek’s time erases her previous school record time of 11:49.27 and eclipsed the Gettysburg stadium record of 11:39.27 established by Dickinson’s Amy Street in 2003. Further, Benford erased her previous school records in the discus (121’-03”) and hammer throw (122’-0.75”). In other top ten finishes, Brittney Dhein (Jr., Telford, PA/Pennridge) placed eighth in the 200 meters (27.34) and ninth in the 100 meters trials (13.43), Libby Haas (So., Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) finished 10th in the 200 meters (27.85) and third in the high jump (4’-11.75”), Tara Cooney (Jr., Douglaston, NY/St. Francis) placed sixth in the 400 meters (1:02.62), while Janeczek finished fifth in the 800 meters (2:30.23) and Colette Buchanan (Fr., Hershey, PA/Hershey) placed seventh in the steeplechase (12:47.34). In the 10,000 meters, Virginia Earl (Fr., Strasburg, PA/Norwood-Norfolk) finished first (41:55.64), while Megan Feehan (Jr., West Chester, PA/Henderson) and Julia Schwartz (Jr., Fort Collins, CO/Poudre) placed third (42:56.94) and fifth (45:30.24), respectively. Franklin & Marshall finished fifth in the 4X100 relay (53.48) and third in the 4X400 relay (4:14.79) to conclude the meet with 91.5 points to defeat Frostburg State, Washington & Jefferson, Johns Hopkins, McDaniel, Case Western Reserve, Keystone and Hood.
